Math
Our accelerated math program, where the majority of our students complete Algebra before high school, brings math learning to life by providing real world examples and applications. Our teachers focus on ensuring that students understand the concepts in addition to the formulas and equations. Our students feel supported and cared for by their math teachers, often choosing to share their lunch time working or visiting in the math lab.
In sixth grade students review and master operations with whole numbers, common fractions, decimal fractions and percents, while introducing the solving of linear equations. Some work in number theory (multiples, factors, primes, composites, powers, exponents, greatest common factors, least common multiples) provides students a springboard into higher level math. Understanding and problem-solving skills are emphasized throughout the curriculum. In 7th grade students complete Pre-Algebra and in 8th grade our students complete algebra. This represents an accelerated program.

iReady is a supplemental math curriculum that the Hebrew Academy has used for the past 3 years. It enables us to individualize learning, including accelerating curriculum for those students who are ready for deeper and more challenging material, and remediating or re-teaching students who have gaps in their learning.
