Our Kindergarten classroom is bustling! The children are engaged in learning about themselves and the world around them. We are halfway through the school year, and the Kindergartners have achieved amazing milestones! They have become readers, writers and mathematicians in such a short amount of time. These children are inquisitive, and constantly asking interesting questions. Kindergartners are immersed in a variety of sensory experiences as they develop their physical (fine and large motor), social emotional, language, literacy, math and cognitive skills.

This past month, we have been learning about plants and trees in collaboration with Judaic Studies and the holiday of Tu B’Shevat. We planted beans and observed them growing. We have learned about the parts of a plant and discovered that the stem is like a highway to transport water! We planted spring onions with our resident gardener, Mr. Berger. We are also watching our snap peas grow in our very own Kinder Garden.

Next, we are looking forward to celebrating our 100th Day of School in the month of Adar! We will be counting 100 things, writing 100 words and 100 ways to keep fit. We have been practicing different ways of counting to 100 in preparation for this momentous day.

Thank you to everyone who was able to participate! Our Mitzvah Project has been a great success. We have collected books for the Reach Out and Read Program that provide books to patients at Pediatric Doctor’s Offices. As part of our Mitzvah Project, parents or special adults are invited to read to their child’s Kindergarten class, in our Covid inspired “Mystery Reader” program. Parents join us via Google Classroom Meet and read to the class. The children love it!

Kindergarten is always a hive of activity, but at the heart of it, hopefully the children are learning to love learning!

Keep playing!
